Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness
STARI produces an expanding rash resembling the erythema migrans of Lyme disease, but its causative agent remains unknown — making it a persistent clinical problem with no specific diagnostic test. The rash occurs in the range of *Amblyomma americanum* (lone star tick), not *Ixodes scapularis* (blacklegged tick).
