Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-13. Version: 1.0.0.
Summary
TickedOff collects the minimum information needed to run the site and to record that you acknowledged our Medical Disclaimer. We do not sell your data. We do not require you to create an account.
What we collect
Acknowledgment records. When you accept our Medical Disclaimer to read our articles or to use our chatbot, we store:
- A random anonymous visitor ID (a UUID stored in a cookie on your device; not tied to your name, email, or any identity)
- A timestamp
- A truncated IP address (the last octet of an IPv4 address or the last 80 bits of an IPv6 address are removed, so the exact address is not stored)
- Your browser's user agent string (truncated to 500 characters)
- The version of the disclaimer you accepted
- Which acknowledgment you gave (article or chatbot)
We only log acknowledgments when you accept. If you decline and leave the site, nothing is written.
Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate. Any analytics provider and its cookies will be listed in our cookie notice.
Chatbot conversations. If you use our AI assistant, your questions and our responses may be logged to improve the service.
Email (only if you provide it). If you contact us or sign up for a newsletter, we retain the email address and related correspondence.
Cookies we set
We use two first-party cookies, scoped to our domain and its subdomains:
tkdoff_vid— your anonymous visitor ID. A random UUID. 2-year expiry.tkdoff_ack— a record of which version of our disclaimers you have accepted (article and chatbot separately), with timestamps. 2-year expiry.
Neither cookie identifies you personally. You can clear them at any time via your browser settings, which will cause our disclaimers to reappear on your next visit.
What we do not collect
We do not collect health information, medical history, or any special-category personal data. Do not send us that information.
How we use what we collect
- To record that you acknowledged our Medical Disclaimer
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site
- To respond to questions you send us
- To comply with legal obligations
How long we keep it
- Acknowledgment records: retained as long as the site operates. These records are our legal record that you acknowledged our Medical Disclaimer at a specific moment in time, and they are append-only — we do not modify or delete them.
- Analytics: per our analytics provider's retention settings.
- Chatbot conversations: retained for a reasonable period to improve the service.
- Email correspondence: retained as long as reasonably needed.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers we use to operate the site (such as our hosting and database providers), and only as needed. We may disclose information if required by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to processing. Because our acknowledgment records are tied to an anonymous cookie ID rather than to your identity, we generally cannot link a request to a specific record unless you provide the cookie ID. You can clear the cookies at any time using your browser settings, which will cause our disclaimers to reappear.
